GPS Tracking for Cars – With GPS on a rise, anyone have a list of everything that can be tracked now?

November 24th, 2009 No comments

cars, trucks, airplanes, pets, mobiles, tractors…

Best Answer: Whatever you can attach a gps transciever to, I guess.

  • Did you mean just GPS tracking or tracking in general? for GPS tracking your device(s) must send a signal to the GPS satellites in orbit. It takes a minimum of 2 satellites to get a general area, or 3-20 satellitetes to narrow down a position.

In answer to the question what can be tracked by GPS, the answer is anything that can send a signal to a GPS satellite.

As to what a specific entity can track depends on it’s resources.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Where would my dad put i gps tracker on my car?

November 18th, 2009 No comments

My dad has just told me that he knows everywhere i go because he put a “tracker” on my car, which is in my name and i pay the note. Could someone please help me by telling me where to look for the tracker so i can take it off. i’ve looked everywhere and i just cant seem to find it. Please HELP!
I am 22 yrs old and pay my own bills. I I live on my own and have a good job and there is no need for my dad to track my car. The only reason he did it is to just be noisy!
Pleaseee help!!!!

Best Answer: depending on type of car, check under the hood in the engine area, under the tire rims, under the body of the car, look in the glovebox, check behind your license plate, everrywhere you think one wouldn’t fit, it is probably in those areas.

You can also take him to court for violating your privcay. You are not in his control anymore and he should remove it NOW or you will contact a lawyer.

  • Are you sure he’s serious? Maybe you should take it to a mechanic and have them get it out.. Or just get a new car and move out.
  • Did he co-sign the note?

Here is my take, if he co-signed the note, he should be able to confiscate the vehicle if you go deliquent on payments, insurance or maintenance. Because co-signing directly effects his credit score.

Take out a loan in your own name, and pay off the original without your dad as co-signer. Ask him to remove “his” property from your vehicle at that point.

Also, he maybe just jacking with you.

  • Does he pay for your cell phone?

Some cell companies have a “Family locator” service that works off the GPS chip in the phone.

Also trip navigators like Garmin might be able to store and share your location.

Chances are he’s just messing with your mind. Find out. Drive to a deserted cemetery at midnight. Park you car and leave it in a church parking lot for a week. If he asks why, then you know he really is tracking you.

    Good luck.

  • Ask him and if he doesn’t tell you ****** yell at him.
  • well, in this day and age I wish my dad would do the same for me… I don’t think that he is trying to be noisy but looking out for your safety… He hasn’t said I know you went here last night has he?

But places it might be are under your bumpers, decal, under your seats.. trunk, spoiler, antena, new cool gadgets.. glove box or places that you don’t use..

GPS Tracking for Cars – Parents only…Is GPS tracking a good idea for teens?

September 18th, 2009 No comments

Wouls you install a GPS tracking devise in your teens car? They are easy and cheap to get now (about $60 for the cheapest ones). They can monitor speed and text you if the driver leaves certain pre-set barriers.

Soooo….would you install one in your teens car, or is this more of a trust issue?

If you would install one, would you tell them about it?

Best Answer: In order for me to install one I would have to have several resons not to trust my child. She would have to have done some untrustworthy things in the past. If she has never given me a reason to not trust her, no I would not. Of course I wouldn’t tell them if I put it in the car.

  • YEAH I would do it in a heart beat. And no I wouldnt tell them. They are kids they dont need to know.

Tell me where you bought it so I can get one for a friends kid.

  • I don’t understand why some parents are afraid to be parents these days. Your are the parent. Teens especially cannot be trusted. Weren’t we all teens before? Even the best kids that get good grades and such at times do stupid things, it’s not their fault though it’s the hormones. When my son drives you can bet that I will track him. I would like to have him micro-chipped also if I find that’s available here in the US. Our children are given to us to protect until they can fend for themselves.
  • i think that i would talk to my teen and explain to them that you are considering this as an option, not only to make sure that they are staying out of trouble, but in our crazy world today it’s also a safety issue…i can’t count the number of missing people that i have heard about on the news or people who get their vehicles stolen. you can also set up boundaries with your teen letting them know that you are not interested in monitoring these things, they are just a precaution in case they are ever needed. if you trust your teen and they are on the up and up, i think they would think it was a pretty cool feature.
  • Sure. There’s a safety issue here as well. Imagine being able to check their location if they are really really late or have gone missing and you can’t contact them via cell.
  • Do you feel a need to check up on your child? if so, then there isn’t any trust present.

If this was my child, I wouldn’t react to something they haven’t done yet. If you trust your kid enough to provide him a car, you should trust him/her enough to not have to track them down.
