GPS Tracking for Cars – How Do I Find My Lost Car?

January 9th, 2010 No comments

Yesterday was New Years, so i was invited to my friends party. Before the party I parked my car somewhere near and 6 hours later I dont have the slightest idea of where it can possibly be. I checked the 3 block radius (I never park further then that), and I couldn’t find it.

I was wondering, if I was to call the police, if there would be some way to track it although i dont have a GPS device installed. Also if it was perhaps towed, would I be notified of this, as soon as it happened? Please give some useful suggestions.

Best Answer: Call the police and report it missing. Now.

  • well if you were drunk, you didnt need to be driving anyway. a friend could be playing a cruel joke on you or it may have been stolen. you can live in the safest neighborhood, that still doesnt mean your car wont get stolen any time.
  • I would call the police. If it was stolen, you’d definitely want to report it stolen before it gets used in a crime. Tell them the truth. There’s no crime in losing your car. After all, you didn’t drive home drunk.
  • Its most likely stolen. :( Call the police, although you should have called them as soon as you noticed.
  • call the 5′0 if you got towed they will tell you if they didnt tow it then you got jacked.it will take the inpound lot 30 days to send you a thing in the mail
  • It was repossessed. Call your finance company

GPS Tracking for Cars – Is it OK to let go/abandon a ill-minded parent? Hear me out?

December 25th, 2009 No comments

First off, I’d like to thank you for reading my story. It’s very difficult to come by people who are willing to help or hear you out – much less online.

Anyway, my mother has some sort of a personality disorder, I believe. She is always paranoid, always accusing people of nonsense, very greedy, and always keeps to herself. Now here comes the story.

My mother and father divorced about 3 years ago due to money problems and the housing market eventually crumbled. Both sides had their credit ruined, both had collections, debts, and loans. Upon divorcing, both sides had struggled to move on without the other – eventually hurting my sister and I. Regardless, my father moved on, married, and now has full custody of my sister. My mother, on the other hand, seems to be going “downhill.” After allocating $200,000 from negotiating with my father, she decided to “lend” money out to her “friends.” This means she gets around $1200 + any interest rate that she set, per month. I don’t know about you, but I believe that has to be the most idiotic thing a person could do. With $200,000, you can do so much, whether it be investing in something reliable or saving money altogether.

Not only is she clumsy and dimwitted (For example, she lost $200 in her purse and claimed I had stolen her money), but she is also greedy, paranoid, irresponsible, etc. All the negative things in the world can describe her with ease! I will simply list her problems as I do not want to drag this out too long.

- She lost $200 and claims I had stolen her money.
- She wrote threatening letters to my dad’s family and claimed she would get the CIA on them.
- She would reiterate what she said occassionally.
- She cannot entrust me or my sister with any amount of money (To hold/lend), so she resorts to her “friends.”
- She hates talking to neighbors or basically any outsiders.
- She constantly brings up the past with my dad.
- She talks too much.
- She would CALL my sister and tell her to tell me not to go to her house, when I never WANTED or MENTIONED about going there.
- She believes my father installed a tracking device on her car.
- She believes the GPS system I bought her is this tracking device.

Please answer my question.

Best Answer: Yes, you listed a lot of things about Mother and what she did, but I did not see what you have done trying to resolve these issues. Like I always say that unless you have exhausted all possible options, do not give up and put the blame on someone else.

  • You need to get her some professional help to be honest

GPS Tracking for Cars – What’s the deal with GPS Trackable Chips?

December 3rd, 2009 No comments

I want to buy a small chip you can place on something to be able to check its location via a computer, cell phone, pda, or specialized device for that product.

I have no idea what these are called, and I would not need a military grade one. (Maybe they make these but could be used for different purposes than intended.)

Example 1: Chip placed in glove compartment in car, car can be tracked remotely across the country over the internet on some webserver, program, or something similar. Like 2-way GPS TomTom.

Example 2: Chip is small enough to fit inside laptop (i.e. construct a decoy “floppy drive” which you really hollowed out to fit the chip.) Laptop can be tracked via cell phone (which would work like google maps on a phone, in real time.)

Example 3: In FOX’s Prison Break series, “T-Bag” puts a GPS chip on the moneybag he claims to have gotten from a General Store. He is able to precisely hunt down the money via some device.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Anyone know the best GPS service to track company vehicles at all times?

    November 3rd, 2009 No comments

I am looking for a GPS tracking system where I can log onto the internet to find the location of all company vehicles (I believe this is called active tracking as opposed to passive where you have to download the info from the car) Anyone know the best provider for this or a place to discuss these matters?

Best Answer: at work we use tracer fleet to track the trucks but it can only track one unit at a time.
not sure of the web sight for them but the info i get helps like speed, location, direction and street as it show es them on a map and you can zoom in and out.

      October 31st, 2009 No comments

I am wondering if there is a technology that would let me know where my things are. Is there any technology which would let me “mark” my car and see where it is if it gets stolen? Maybe something like a GPS tag?
