GPS Tracking for Cars – Car stolen need help?

December 13th, 2009 No comments

My car just got stolen last night it was found in mexico It had GPS tracking on it just to slow get mexican police to help us
by the time we got there it was almost striped most of the inside was gone engine was out tires and the dam windshild was gone it was sad sight.
MY question is will i have to pay for it? i only had it for 4 months still ow 9500.00 on it will my insurance cover me?
I called geico they said they send some one out on monday morning anny one know how this works?

i been readying all the fine print could not find annyting on stolen veicales..

Best Answer: dude if you have full coverage you should be fine. being found in Mexico, not positive but still sure it will be covered. I am not sure about this but when the insurance rep visits you be an ask-hole. yea that’s right ask as many question as you can, start writing them down. I think they give you KBB of the vehicle. Sorry to hear that,my friends tahoe was broken into the same night yours was but in houston.

  • The insurance takes care of it, if you have the coverage. They’ll give you the book value of what the cars worth, if you owe 9500 on it, and it’s only worth 8000, you’re only getting 8000.
  • whatever that big azz paragraph said.. its a sign, BUY A NEW ONE!!!!
  • call the cops
  • Your comprehensive policy covers theft. It should be 100% covered less your deductible. If you owe more than the car is worth you will be responsible for paying the bank the difference.
  • They will pay but only the market value. You probably owe more than that so you are going to still owe the bank some money after the insurance pays. You’re getting ready to find out why Geico is so cheap. Next time remember that you generally get what you pay for. You might save a couple bucks in the short term but in the end you’ll pay.

GPS Tracking for Cars – They dont trust me?

is it true that jd byrider puts gps tracking device in your car incase you dont pay? (what is your source?) i have always paid on time. i dont plan on not paying. that is not the issue but i feel weird about them being able to tell where i’m at always.

Best Answer: They could if they wanted the expense. Nothing would prohibit them from knowing the whereabouts of their collateral at any given time. In the “old days’ ; banker sthat loaned on “movable property” ; would “visit” their collateral to make sure “those cows were still there”. Even grain is microchipped today to identify ownership of certain contaniers. Many frieght vans (trailers) have GPS devices on them, so that the owners of the freight know where their property is located. Until it is paid for and the lein released, it remains the collateral (for the loan) and the lender has an interest in the property. They don’t care where you are, just the property.

  • I don’t think it’s true. I highly doubt it’s legal to do that.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Is it possible to track car with gps inside?

September 13th, 2009 No comments

don’t know if this will make sense, I have a basic garden variety tom tom gps, I just want to know how or if I can put it in my man’s car on, and then download it later to find out where the car has been, is this possible??

Best Answer: most dashboard GPS receivers don’t have the necessary hardware for /tracking/ a unit, only calculating it’s own location. that data isn’t transmitted to any centers or satellites, only to the screen. GPS is like having a big beacon in the sky, and a little calculator in your hand that tells you where you are based on where it sees the beacon. the calculator is not a relay, the data only flows in one direction, so the beacon has no idea how many GPSes it’s hooked up to, nor where they are.

there may also be an option on your tomtom that would allow you to “create a route”, or something along those lines. basically what it would do is make a map of wherever the unit went. this is usually used for marking hiking trails, and is mainly offered on higher scale units.

there are some commercial devices that transmit a GPS location to a center, these are usually used to track semi trucks or fedex planes in real time. if you /really/ wanted to find out where your man is at all times in a fool-proof way, you could hide one of those in his car ;)

  • Yes, you can. It’s also *incredibly* illegal if you do it without his knowledge. If you get caught then it can land you in jail, there have been numerous cases around the world that have already set precedent for this exact example.
  • yes you have to get the code of the chip from the gps and go to manufacturer website then go to track gps or something and then put in the code
  • maybe maybe not
  • yes we can

GPS Tracking for Cars – Do rental cars have a tracking system?

September 1st, 2009 No comments

do rental cars have a gps tracking system like lojack or something, so the company can see where you are

Best Answer: Some do. And the system can also report and record incidents of speeding. And do not think for a moment that you will not hear about it when you return the car. They could also ‘blacklist’ you from renting out another car at a future date.
