GPS Tracking for Cars – Police depts. often have CAD and AVL. Have you heard of drug dealers using this tech to track police cars?

November 29th, 2009 No comments

CAD = Computer Aided Dispatch. AVL = Automatic Vehicle Locator (its GPS based)

Best Answer: No. It also wouldn’t be possible. The CAD system is a closed internal system without outside access and AVL is transmitted via a secure link to teh CAD. The better chance would be if someone were to use a radio scanner and listen for where the units had been dispatched to, etc.

  • I was attatched to a police department for six months conducting a study on why their drug related arrests were down a significant percent over the previous year’s numbers. After months of observing officers in their cars, we eventually found (by pure chance) that during shift changes these young kids would sit in the park across the street and would cell-phone dealers with information on who was working that night, how many cars were out, etc. (We turned a kid who was arrested at school with a significant amount of pot.) The dealers would shift where they were dealing based on who was working, because they had… get this…. run an analysis on where the officers were most apt to patrol by following them for over a month and mapping out where they would go. I kid you not.

Who ever said the criminal element was dumb was horribly wrong.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Tracking devices?

November 26th, 2009 No comments

This may seem like a stupid question, but if there is even a chance I can get some answers I will risk looking stupid.

Where can a person get miniature tracking devices that you can track using a GPS or something similar?

Why I ask, is my car has been broken into twice in the last year, and I have lost some expensive stereo equipment, as well as some nice toys *radar detectors ect*

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is the same person doing these crimes. The police are useless, I found out they are not even checking with the local pawn shops regarding stolen property.

I want to “booby trap” so to speak my property, and be able to catch these theives red handed next time by being able to pinpoint where my stolen goods went.

If anyone can help me with information about this, I will be very grateful. You may answer here, or email me at jessie0714@hotmail.com

Many thanks in advance.

Best Answer: Garmon are the best GPS System in the world also you might try a LoJack system is is the only system that the police use to track stolen cars and Lojack guarnatees it or your money back

GPS Tracking for Cars – Navigational GPS question?

      October 16th, 2009 No comments

Could we use our GPS to track another car while driving on the road who also have the same GPS device… so we dont loose site of each other?

Best Answer: No. The gps units give you the location of the gps unit. It is possible to connect gps units together using a cell phone network, but this would be more complicated.

Look at the following page for more infomation on GPS: http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/gp…
