GPS Tracking for Cars – I just got my Motorola Razr V3 stolen!?

January 7th, 2010 No comments

I got the phone about 2 weeks ago and the person who stole my phone out of my car left the sim card for me. (Service is with AT&T) I was told that if the card was in the phone it could be tracked but if the card isn’t they could just put theirs in it and use the phone with no problem. But is there a way to track the phone like GPS style? Anyone who knows the capabilities of this type of phone or got their phone through att would help.

Best Answer: This is freaky, I just got a hand out from a friend regarding a similar thing. You can’t track it BUT you can shut down the hand set so the joker can’t use it. Get to your paperwork and come up with the serial number, 15 digits and unique to your phone. Let you service provider know the number and they’ll shut it down even without the SIM.

  • Really the only way to track a phone’s GPS signal is if they call 911. There might be other ways, but none that the police are going to delve into to recover a phone that costs a few hundred bucks. Maybe if they were tracking a mass murderer or something…

Well, at least they took your sim card out so they aren’t running up your bill! Have to look at the positive!

  • you can’t track it now.

you need to report it stolen and you need to get a new phone.

  • Even if GPS and the sim card in the phone, your phone cannot be traced. Your best bet is to try to call your cell phone. See if anyone picks up. If someone does, tell them to send you your phone or meet to get it back. You could also call your local AT&T store to see if anyone turned it in.

If no luck, then you need to report it lost/stolen. You don’t want someone ranking up your phone bill. When you do report it, the phone is useless to whom ever has it. They won’t be able to have service on it.

GPS Tracking for Cars – If the gov’t started taxing you per mile instead of per gallon would you still want an efficient car?

http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/RUFPP/mil…

Also, if all cars were lowjacked with GPS, would that be a violation of our right to privacy since the gov’t it using it to track our behaviour?

Best Answer: I would relocate that low jack to the bottom of a lake.

But I would still like to have a more fuel efficient car.

This is wrong in so many ways.
What about farmers that drive all over their private property.
This is supposed to be a road use tax.

  • “Wanting you (Fuel efficient iron steed)
    And still not having you
    May soon destroy
    What’s left of my mind!
    (Like I want one…so badddddd!
    But I’m too broke, bloke!

    WoW…as for gov’t GPS
It would be less expensive for the gov’t to pay people to SAY where they are going…
I use a locator to monitor my dtr’s safety
and it takes TIME and patience.
If gov’t wants to do it…they must hire 1000s of people or get volunteers like the border vidcam watchers.

  • you bet ye, I’d disconnect the odo meter though.
  • That would defeat the purpose of driving a fuel-efficient car. There would be no point to buying one whatsoever.
  • no, not gonna happen, the vampires would loose $$$. per gal. is more efficient for them.they do not give a sh*it where you go as long as they grab your $$.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Whats the theme of this story. its good lol?

December 13th, 2009 No comments

ok. the story is about a teen, named justin whos a reckless driver and likes to party. well, he had just got back from a party right, and he decides to speed over a speed bump. well after, when he goes to change the radio station he hears a voice
” marian is programing” at first he thought it was just a commercial. but then he keeps hearing it so he responds ” marian?” the voice responds. he figures its just a GPS that the previous owner didnt tell him about.( this is a crappy car) so ‘marian’ directs him home. well, he ends up in the middle of no where on train tracks when his car breaks down. The GPS tells him to wait 5 minutes before he tries to restart it and that the train in 6 minutes away. he trusts her. then when the 5 min. is up. he tries to start it but marian stops him. and tells him that he has so many min. before he can start it and that the train is only 12 seconds away. he begins to worrie, gets out and runs. then a few seconds later the train hits and the car scatters. The GPS tried to kill him. At the end of the story I found out that the GPS was a spirit who wanted to get revenge b/ she got killed by the same car by the guy who sold the car to Justin. B/ he was a reckless driver. just like Justin

I figured 3 literary elements were Characterization: Justin is a reckless driver
Symbolism:marian was killed by a reckless driver.Justin symbolises a reckless driver
Irony: Justin has the same car marian got killed by.

Idk, I don’t think they make sense. What do u think?

Best Answer: I think it all makes perfect sense… a good flow to the story, an interesting theme… a twist on “Christine” or any other car-revenge story with the GPS and the train. I like it!

Plus your 3 literary elements make sense to me. Except Justin never symbolizes a reckless driver, he IS one. Stick with Marian on the symbolism, and maybe work in the train somehow.

Oh, somebody else wrote the story and it’s your homework, right? I am so often fooled!

GPS Tracking for Cars – Do you need further proof that Global Warming is being used to institute communism in America?

    December 9th, 2009 No comments

1st: In the 1970’s (I believe) they made it ILLEGAL to have a certain size of toilet in your home.

2nd: C.A.F.E. (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) Standards have made cars smaller and less safe. (which would you feel safer in if you were in a crash, a Mini Cooper or a Hummer?)

3nd: In Massachussets, Oregon, Rhode Island, and other states either have inplemented or are talking about adding GPS trackers to cars to track how much and how far you drive, so they can tax you and track you and eventually ration your driving in the name of fairness

4: In Britian in the name of cutting back on the national carbon footprint, they are banning beef and milk in the state hospitals

5: The Smart Grid that Obama and the leftists are talking about will be used to monitor how much energy you use, then eventually be used to FORCE you to ration..

6: Some enviroment minister in Europe, proposed a GLOBAL law limiting people to just two kids.

7: VHEMT: Human Extinction movement, they call themselves voluntary, but just wait til a politician catches wind of their mindset..

8: In Austrailia, they are proposing a toilet tax, where that you are taxed on the number of times you flush the toilet

9: Carbon Credits: Are just another grand governmental plan to steel from the rich (and productive) and give to the Nadya Suleman’s, the Herietta’s, the people who think now that Obama won they won’t have to worry about paying their bills, buying gas, paying for their house, electricity, etc. , the welfare recipients who refuse to work of the world.

As a liberty loving American, I am in favor of protecting the earth. I don’t go down to the Mississippi River and dump a barrel of oil, a bag of garbage, and other stuff into it and if I saw someone doing that I would call the police and try to stop them myself. Also as a liberty loving American and some one who actually studied history I see eery similarites to the whole( especially the radical elements and the government) green movement and the bloshevik revolution in Russia.

Best Answer: Environmentalism is nothing more than communism wrapped up in a big green bow.

EDIT: Upon further review I have decided that there is nothing wrong with the VHEMT movement. In fact, I would like to encourage all liberal democrats to participate in this program.

    • I hate to break it to you, but there are absolutely NO SIMILARITIES between laws that are meant to protect the environment and the Bolshevik Revolution!:)
    • Nope, Global Warming IS a super hype for Government’s to have MORE CONTROL over the Citizen.
    • I would love to see how they are going to come up with a flush count on a toilet? What a crappy job!
    • That don’t prove anything to me.
    • LOL OK . Sure am happy i don’t live a paranoid life like you do .
    • The Commies have been infiltrating this country since the 1960s. They realized the easiest way to bring down such a large power would be to use our conscience and virtues against us.

Tell them they’re not being nice, and they’ll bow down to prove that they are indeed nice people. When you get them bowing down far enough, cut off their heads!

      .

    • 1. How big a toilet do you need anyway?
      2. I’d feel safe in my Mini-/Cooper if there were no modified humvees on the road.
      3. They’ve been talking about this for a couple of years now. I doubt that it will pass. You can’t just create a law like that and present it to the people full blown. Voters can still throw massive protests and get their representatives to vote against it. And if it should pass, I’m not sure it could withstand a Supreme Court challenge.
      4. Are you sure that’s an environmental issue? Britain lost a huge part of their beef herds in the last five years. I would imagine that makes beef quite expensive and it’s probably a money-saving attempt.
      5. OK. Let’s not improve the grid. I’m sure you won’t mind another five-state failure like we had a few years ago. As to your paranoia, there’s probably not much in the modern world that can’t be used to monitor somebody and charge them for something.
      6. So one EU person proposed a law and that constitutes a conspiracy? Get back to me if the law passes. With a very Catholic Italy and all the Muslims in Europe, I seriously doubt it will.
      7. So you think politicians are subject to becoming attached to any idiotic group across the board or only this one?
      8. Britain used to tax houses by the number of windows they had. The Sultan of Brunei gets paid his weight in gold every year. We pay a tax on gasoline. I seriously doubt that Australia can in some magic way distinguish common water usage from that required to flush a toilet, so it would have to be just a general water usage tax. If they can tax gasoline, they can tax water, too. As long as you are not purifying and obtaining your own water, you’re subject to things like that.
      9. That’s not how carbon credits work. Carbon credits involve an exchange between two companies, one of whom has taken the action to reduce their emissions and one who doesn’t want to. The company with the low emissions sells their allowance to the people who want to continue to pollute.

You need to take a step back and look at your history. You won’t find many long, slow conspiracies. Communism in Russia was a result of centuries of Tsarist oppression. It rose from the ground up, with thousands of Social Democratic groups being formed throughout the country. No one sat around and nibbled away at their freedom to get there. To them, socialism/communism was freedom. So you cannot expect us to follow their path.

    • And as usual for a conservative you do not tell us WHERE you got this information. It sounds to me like you have a great imagination!
    • I like this guy:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SJsA7NLA…

listen to how conscious he is regarding use of language
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHp09oHQF…

      here’s a poem ***bonus***
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91YJaGXc…

    • Some of your examples don’t make sense. You stated “do you need further proof….in America?” Therefore, you can’t include support from European countries, Britain, and Australia. Therefore your supports #4, #6, and #8 are completely irrelevant.

I’d like to see an actual source for #1.

#3 If this is true this would definitely be a problem to myself and I assume other Americans. However, it appears the latter part of your statement is not fact but simply an assumption or interpretation. It appears you’re assuming that they would ration one’s driving but there is no proof of that.

#4. Even though its irrelevant because its Britain I am going to comment any way. If its a state run hospital like you claim then they can serve whatever food they would like because they receive government funding. Don’t like it, go to another hospital.

#5 Engineers from both parties agree that our energy grid is out of date and inefficient. The rolling blackouts are cause by inefficiency and in some cases corporate greed (Enron), which is not relevant in this situation but worth mentioning.

#7 I have no response because I am not informed on this topic and am not going to make an ill-informed observation. However, I can tell once again the latter part of that statement is simply your interpretation and not fact based. You’re assuming you know someones mindset which is just not possible.

#9 Seems obviously biased and once again there is an assumption of the political mindset that at the present time is not fact based and is a pure interpretation and assumption. Plus, you used the word “steel” when you meant “steal”.

The fact that hundreds of scientists around the world (unaffected by U.S. Politics) agree that global warming is becoming a problem is reason enough to believe it exists. These scientists have Masters and Doctorates degrees in their fields and their judgment in this field is superior to both mine and yours. We need to let the professionals do their jobs. There is proof that global temperatures have increased dramatically over the last 50 years. That itself proves that “Global Warming” exists. Although, the causes are up for debate it appears there is a relation to carbon emissions due to the fact that they are at unprecedented levels since the beginning of time.

GPS Tracking for Cars – Taxing how far you go, not taxing gas?

    December 9th, 2009 No comments

The government is wanting to impose a tax on the distance a person travels in their car, instead of taxing fuel. They say they were not prepared for people to drive less and drive more fuel efficient cars and they are not making enough money from fuel taxes now.

They are planning on gps devices for cars to track how far a person drives. Do you think this is right? What are your opinions on this?

Best Answer: I consider it a invasion of privacy. How many rights does this violate?

I heard of them wanting to tax gas more as a deterrent for using foreign oil. I don’t think that is a bad idea but only if they wait until we have more options on electric cars. Right now, we don’t have a choice.

    • Any increases in taxes are a bad idea. The USA must, absolutely must, learn to consume less energy. We have no choice. We have sold off trillions of our economy to countries that hate us. What the government must do, is reduce imports, and the prices will rise accordingly. We will learn move freight out of ineffficient tractor-trailers onto railroads. We will build railaroads where there are none. We will learn to build and use mass-transportation. And we WILL learn to deal with smaller, more fuel efficient cars.

Taxing won’t reduce consumtion, and dependency on foreign imports for energy.

    • Gas tax revenue has not kept up with the cost of building and maintaining roads and highways and a commission has recommended an increase in the gas tax. You should consider federal and state gasoline excise tax as the toll you pay to use the roads. As an alternative to increasing the tax per gallon, the commission suggested exploring ways to impose tax based on road usage but this would be difficult to implement for many reasons. If you want good roads you have to pay for them. How do you want to do it?
    • A link would help because it all sounds out of place.

Is under determination or study, and it would be for electric car or vehicles that do not use gas but use the streets, to collect for repairs as gas cars do.

Quite different of what you mention.

    • They fail at most of what they try to do…if they just use common sense and realize that they need find a different method to fund the road ways that has nothing to do with vehicles.
    • Yeah. I heard about that on the radio. What will they think of next.
    • Unbelievable. Makes me want to punch them.

How did we elect these a holes?
